Alice McGillicutty, headwriter for soap opera All My Tomorrows, has had enough drama. Her mother passed away, her relationship ended in disaster, and poor ratings are catapulting the long-running soap toward cancellation. For comfort and inspiration, she reads an old melodramatic paperback she found among her mother’s belongings.

When scandal rips Hollywood bad-boy Peter Walsingham off the tabloids and into her studio, Alice doubts the small screen is big enough for his ego – or his entourage. Will Peter’s arrogance compel Alice to write him out of her script, or can she find a role for him in All My Tomorrows?

Enchanting Excerpt:
“Come in,” Alice said without lifting her eyes from her book.

“Mrs. McGillicutty, we need to talk about –”

At the sound of Peter’s voice Alice raised her head, and he broke off. She scowled. “Mrs.?”

He froze in the doorway. “It’s you,”

“Not if you are looking for Mrs. McGillicutty. Why would you presume I am married?”

“I – well…with a name like McGillicutty, I assumed…”

“You assume every female McGillicutty emerges from the womb married?”

The shock from recognition fell away as his face relaxed. “No, of course not. I apologize if I offended you, Miss McGillicutty.”

She pointed at a chair with her pen. “Alice will do. You have something to discuss?”

He closed the door and took the offered seat. She was too pissed off at him to be star-struck, and she had prepared for this conversation.

“I saw you on the set,” he said. “I assumed you were an actress on the show.”

“You assume quite a lot, Mr. Walsingham.”

“Peter. You can call me Peter.”

“What an honor. Now, why are you here?”

“Yes. About my character. Tristram.”

“Tristan. Right. I don’t want that role.”

“Oh? And why might that be?”

“He was lost at sea and declared dead. The premise is ridiculous.”

“No, it isn’t; it happens all the time.”

“Like when?”

“Well, there’s My Favorite Wife; Move Over, Darling; Gilligan.”

“That’s fiction. I mean it’s not realistic. Besides, Move Over, Darling is a remake of My Favorite Wife.”

Although amused at his knowledge of old romance movies, she would not let it divert her. “Realistic? So you really are a war veteran slash forensic pathologist who will not rest until he avenges the murder of his wife? No wonder you embodied your role on COD.”

He smiled at her. Oh, dear Lord, he’s smiling at me. “I take your point.”

Anwen Llewelyn works for a Temporary Office Replacement Agency as she is the designated driver for her elderly neighbor, John.

Gareth Caldwell is one of the partners at her new job and he’s immediately attracted to her slender, dark good looks, but can’t understand why, when she is so obviously an incompetent worker.

Anwen doesn’t know why she is attracted to a man with a bad temper.

Enchanting Excerpt:
“Yes, Miss Forbes. No Miss Forbes. Whatever you say, Miss Forbes,” Anwen Llewelyn chanted to herself as she sorted the paperwork into piles for Urgent, Overdue, and This Should Probably Be Urgent But The Pile Is Already Too Big.

“I can see why Miss Forbes’s lack of people skills would put anyone off from working here, but the hourly rate is too good to refuse,” she thought as she looked in horror at the height of the Overdue stack.

Anwen pushed the other two piles to one side and began sorting the Overdue stack into This Morning, This Afternoon, and Tomorrow With Luck.

Anwen worked for a Temporary Office Replacement Agency because of her neighbor John. At eighty-five his mind was still as sharp as ever but his eyesight and hearing were no longer good enough for him to drive a car or take public transportation, and she was his designated driver to his numerous medical appointments.

“Besides, I love him. He’s the grandfather I never knew,” she thought as she tackled the top item on the This Morning pile.

By 12.30, when Anwen was due to take her lunch break “This Morning” was reduced to half a dozen items she wasn’t sure how to deal with, and she left a neat file of completed paperwork in Miss Forbes’s previously empty in-tray.

Her afternoon was less productive as she spent time with Miss Forbes asking about the difficult items, but at the end of the day she was pleased with the amount she’d achieved.

Anwen was in the parking lot walking to her car when her cell phone rang.

“Hi, John. How’s your day been?”

She noticed the extremely handsome man, a partner at the company she thought, walk past her to his car. Like him, his car was sleek, shiny and expensive. The man was dressed in a suit that was definitely not off the rack; the car came from a European showroom.

He was tall, muscular, with broad shoulders, and reddish-brown hair. His navy suit matched the dark blue of the car.

Anwen licked her lips as his delicious body climbed into his equally delicious car, then sighed and concentrated on her neighbor’s conversation again.

In 1304, amidst Scotland's continuing war for independence, two wounded souls are forced on a journey neither wants, resulting in tragedy and disaster.

Battle-hardened, untrusting, and son of a Scottish Chieftain, Duncan MacThomas wants only to see his country free from English rule. Honor-bound to ensure his clan's financial future, Duncan travels to wed a woman he doesn't want.

Wealthy and pampered, Catherine Gillingham anticipates a marriage to a Duke's son and is dismayed when her king decrees she must wed a Scotsman.
Can these two opposites find love amidst war?

Enchanting Excerpt:
When the priest asked for Catherine’s voice of consent, her eyes slipped sideways to appraise the angry man beside her. His stony silence seemed as eloquent as any bard’s tale. He wanted nothing to do with her.

Her voice cracking, she barely whispered the words that would forever alter the course of her life. "I will."

The man beside her stood rigid as she gave her response. He exhaled loudly and said through clenched teeth, "Aye, I will."

The priest completed the holy message despite the palpable tension, then moved inside the chapel to offer communion and bless the marriage.

Catherine couldn’t believe the priest’s audacity when at ceremony’s end he smiled at Duncan and said, "You may give your bride the kiss of peace."

Duncan eyed the priest as if he’d lost his mind, then turned for the first time to face his lady wife.

Trying to keep his expression unreadable, his gaze traversed the length of her body. Seal this unwanted union with a kiss to show the two families joined together with no ill feelings? He’d not do it. All he’d had to do was tell the priest he protested. The ceremony would have gone no further. He couldn’t do it. His clan needed him. Before he left home he’d decided not to stay with her after the wedding, wanting nothing to do with a woman his father selected. He planned to leave as soon as he took her to his home. He wouldn’t change his mind now.

He stood resolute—and unable to breathe—for he stared at one of the loveliest women he’d ever seen.

Highland Miracle

Highland Miracle
Author: Leanne Burroughs
Genre: Mainstream Romance

While the Scottish War for Independence rages, a young Laird heads to the Scottish-English border to avenge his father’s murder. The time for retribution has arrived. Rage tightly controlled, Grant Drummond presses forward toward the Norman-style manor to take its inhabitants by surprise.

Victoria Blackstone tensed with a sense of foreboding. Her stomach knotted as she surveyed the men surrounding her. Instinct warned her to escape. Her movements gave Grant pause. As his grey eyes surveyed the woman fate just delivered into his hands, he smiled—first time since hearing the terrible news about his father’s death.

Enchanting Excerpt:
“What will you do with her, Grant?”

A chill washed over Victoria.

Looking into her soft brown eyes, Grant saw an attempt at bravado. The top of her head didn’t even reach his chin. A look of defiance blazed from the depths of her eyes and he almost laughed. Most men were afraid of him, so she certainly should be. She should be quaking in her borrowed boots. After all, he held her life in his hands. He instilled fear in men much larger and braver than this wee wisp of a girl.

Leave her. That’s what he’d do.

He hadn’t come to take prisoners. He’d traveled to Berwick to kill Blackstone, and that he’d done—with his own sword. He didn’t need to kill everyone as the detestable English had done at the massacre that left thousands dead. Those were their filthy tactics, not his.

How could he have mistaken her for a lad, even if only momentarily? From what he could see beneath the soot, he imagined her quite pretty. She returned his glare insolently, yet her breaths came heavy with fear. She drew her tongue between her parched lips.

The effect on him proved immediate. “Fetch her,” he shot over his shoulder as he walked away. The young woman stared in mute horror, as if not believing she’d correctly heard his words.

“Nay!” Her eyes grew wide with terror.

Grant heard the desperation in her voice.
“Grant?” Alexander queried.

“Fetch her.” Grant didn’t look back or spare the woman in question a second glance. He struggled not to break into a grin. Failing, a hint of a smile eased up the corners of his lips as he walked away and found his mount.

‘Twas the first time he’d smiled since hearing the terrible news about his father.

Fate Accompli

Weekenders Romance Watch

Author: MM Jaye
Genre: Mainstream Romance
Buy: Amazon

Besides an MBA, Monica Mitchell has a mission: to prove to Alex Argiros, the gorgeous Greek magnate, that she has now grown out of the habit of flashing her underwear and looking like a zombie flick castoff … in the presence of hundreds.

The catch? The bad blood between her family and his means she has to hide who she is yet, soon, she gets all she ever wanted and so much more.

She knows she has to come clean or risk losing everything.

She knows, yet she needs just a little longer to savor his searing kisses…

Enchanting Excerpt:
Alex took two silent steps on the thick carpet and was now standing right next to Monica, eyes locked on hers.

“I’ll see Miss Mitchell right now. If Terzakis calls, put him through. I will accept no other calls.” He took a step closer to the desk, inevitably entering Monica’s personal space. “Aren’t you supposed to be at some embassy or something?” he asked the other woman. His perplexed expression softened his features, giving him a vulnerable look that Monica found endearing.

He is overtired, she thought, now able to look at his face up close. His dark hair curled at the top of his ears and was not all in place as if he’d been running his hand through it.

She heard Jenny say, “I’m leaving right now. I’ll forward my line to reception and instruct them about your calls.”

After that, Alex refocused on Monica.

Now she had three options. One, look down at the rug seemingly appraising it, even though until fairly recently, she’d thought that Aubusson was expensive wine—risky; two, stand her ground under Alex’s scrutiny—too risky; or three, display studious interest in Jenny as part of Lesson A: How to Angle Desk Chair when Leaving Office—moronic but safe.

She went for option three.

Seemingly in slow motion, she watched the other woman snag her shoulder bag, pass behind Alex and press the elevator button. Alex hadn’t moved an inch and was still towering over her. “Good luck getting the job, Monica,” Jenny called, then mouthed, “And the man,” before she disappeared behind the sliding doors.

Twenty-fifteen is the start of something new!

I've got characters banging to get out of my head and onto the pages. They're anxious to join my other sweet and sensual romances. So, I must be prepared to accommodate them.
